ROAR PDF Print E-mail

The 1997 historical fantasy series on FOX titled ROAR, was canceled within it's first season. Which was a real shame to most of us who watched and enjoyed the new program. After all, having a rank of 71 on the Neilsen's isn't all that bad compared to most of FOX's prime-time series ... not every show can have the success The X-Files gave the up and coming network. And USA Network's infamous Xena and Hercules series sure hadn't shown the numbers needed to keep themselves on the air, at that time. But, as with all things related to the "suits," network executives quietly buried the summer offering to the appropriate gods of television. And yet, one cable channel has risen to reanimate another doomed or dead series, if only to present the fans the remaining shows that were in the can. Eight shows were aired in the summer of '97, but we will get the chance to see the remaining 5 shows on SciFi Channel, when the series re-airs April 2nd, 2003.

Time to give the devil his due ... even if the devil is Ben Affleck. I know, I know ... Mr. Affleck wouldn't be my first choice for a super hero. Hell, he wouldn't be my 100th choice! But, as much as I wanna cringe at the concept, I have seen the trailers, teasers and clips for this new film opening today, Daredevil. And I must admit, Ben makes it work. Be sure to check the link to the official web site to check out all the video clips. The movie simply rocks!

Veritas: The Quest PDF Print E-mail

ABC gave viewers a one two punch following the Super Bowl (as I shake my head in disgust over the Raider loss), with two new programs filling our Monday Night (Football) void: Veritas and Miracles. Veritas: The Quest takes viewers on ... well ... a quest, in the Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, and Mummy type fashion. Folks around me seem to think this one will fail, but I, for one, am going to enjoy this series while it lasts. Look, if it's the choice between this or watching one more police story, one more doctor story, one more lawyer story, or gawd forbid one more Let's Make Fun of a Bunch of Tragic Souls while they Compete to become either the Sexiest Body or some other Non Talent ... I will happily watch this doomed show. Fantasy and Horror, as well as, Sci-Fi have had tough times finding their television audiences, and this show is no different.
