Looking for a unique fantasy film the whole family can enjoy, during the holidays? Look no further than The Seeker: The Dark is Rising, adapted from the fantasy series of novels by Susan Cooper. The film is based on the story from the second novel in the series, The Dark is Rising.

On the eve of his 14th birthday, Will Stanton is going through some changes in his life. No, not puberty ... although he is smitten with a young girl he goes to school with, Maggie. Living in a rather large family, Will feels ignored for the most part. Even as his birthday approaches, only his younger sister, Gwen, and his eldest brother away in the Navy, remember his birthday. However, Will is about to discover that he is very, very special ...

Even the smallest of light ... shines in the darkness

Mistress of the Manor in the small English village, invite young Will and his American family to a Christmas party. Maggie shows up, as well, but is escorted by his older brother, James. Crushed and frustrated, and confused by strange occurrences recently, he leaves the Manor and is confronted by The Rider. The Rider attempts to kill Will, but is saved by four of the local residents, who seemed to be keeping an eye on Will Stanton.

You see, Miss Greythorne, her butler Merriman Lyon, and farmers Dawson and Old George are not what they appear. They are the Old Ones, last warriors defending The Light against the ominous power of The Dark. And Will Stanton is the seventh son of the seventh son, the latest and last Old One. He is The Seeker ... the one who must locate the six signs throughout space and time, bringing them together to defeat The Dark. However, The Rider has his own eyes set on the six signs, and has 5 days to unleash The Dark upon the world.

But, as the adventure continues, Will Stanton will come to find more than new magical powers, or the race to find these mysterious signs before The Rider can get his evil hands on em ... he will also discover hidden family secrets, and treachery by those closest to him:
